Big Weekend for Markus

Saturday morning was Markus' 4 month checkup at the pediatrician. He started acting fussy when we arrived at the Doctor's office and it was unexpected because it had only been 1:45 minutes since he last ate. Nonetheless, he wanted a bottle. I had to run to the car, get a bottle, heat it up in the bathroom (he didn't like the cold formula) and then feed him. We had to stop in the middle of the feeding so the pediatrician could administer his immunization shots. Poor guy. He was crying, but it was all over in a minute and he was okay once the bottle came back.

At least he didn't pee all over the place like last time.

Markus is now 26 inches long and weighs an even 20 pounds. That's 4 inches (18%) and 6 pounds (43%) more than his 2 month appointment.

We were glad to hear that he is doing well, and not overweight or anything. The doctor said that he is just growing fast.

Markus passed out, so we took the opportunity to do some grocery shopping with him in the stroller.

Afterwards my friends Mike D. (l.) and Wally (r.) came over to finally meet Markus, see the house, and hang out in New Jersey. Wally was moved by the quietness of our block. It might have been the first time in years that he heard actual birds chirping. It turned out to be a gorgeous day, so we sat in the backyard, drank a couple of beers, listened to some music, played some dice, and chatted. Which is pretty much all we've done for the last decade or so when we hang out.

Sandra's mother and sister also came over and started playing with Markus. They all took him for a walk around the block.

Markus was pretty tired from all of the excitement, plus he was a little fussy from the shots in the morning. He fell asleep around 7:30 and woke up the next day at 6:30 (7:30 daylight savings).

One thing the doctor told us we can try is to introduce Markus to rice cereal. Although babies can go up to a year on formula alone, Markus may benefit from rice cereal since he is growing so fast and eats so much. We thought that he would eat it up! Amazingly, he didn't like it at all. In fact, he HATED it. We were shocked! We tried three different times and each time he went nuts. We took a video of it, which we will post soon.

Anyway, it was a nice weekend with nice weather, spent with great friends and family. Good times.

Someone is copying someone else. I will let you decide who is the copycat.

Markus' latest effort to flip himself over. Almost there.

Finally, here is a video of a what I see each morning when I go to see Markus in his room. He is a little shy because he notices the camera (around the 9 second mark), but otherwise pretty typical.

Hey Guy, I just caught up and I am so happy to hear Markus is doing so well. You are so blessed to have such a beautiful baby.

did you try putting a little of the rice cereal in the bottle or give it to him straight? Once he starts eating baby food you can mix it in with the fruits and veggies (try the rice cereal - I wouldn't want to eat it straight either!)
